Charter in BVI’s a HUGE Success!

Except I’m boring. Seriously, I need to turn off my brain more.

In January, Kendall and I took our first “class” for catamaran living and sailing. Our friends Mickey and Russ took time from their schedules to fly down to the Virgin Islands and teach us what they know about catamaran living and sailing. We are forever grateful for their lessons and patience. Unfortunately, Kendall and I were in “learning” mode so I fear I was boring as hell most of the trip. I was far too interested in sponging up knowledge and couldn’t seem to “live in the moment” like my son suggests I do.

I now understand the love sailors have for the BVIs. The islands, constant winds and vast number of anchorages make it a dream for liveaboards and charters. In January the water was in the upper 70’s and the air temperature ranged from low 70’s to low 80’s. It really could not have been any better.

Since there was just 4 of us on the Lagoon 40′ , I was able to monopolize Captain Russ’s time and add some Catamaran sailing hours to my resume.

We did manage to have some fun exploring the area but I really want to go back and live there for a season and find time to relax.

I mean seriously, I’m 100% student and thinker on this trip. I’m sitting in a cafe in perfect weather with friends I admire and I all do is think and plan. I looked at most of our pictures and this is me, thinking and not living……so sad.

The Crew

30 years of marriage has taught us much about ourselves. I’ve learned that I love everything about this woman and she is FAR more adventurous and outgoing that I am. I’ve also learned how supportive she can be about my love for the open water and boating. Let’s see where this takes us.
